Did You Know?
Girl Scout troops first appeared in the Florida Panhandle in
1918. Through the many years, our councils have had many names but
have stood the test of time as the voice of the girls in our
communities.
- 64% of today’s women executives/leaders were Girl Scouts.
92% of female astronauts were Girl Scouts.
- If you asked today’s women leaders where they got their
drive, spirit, and leadership skills, more than 50% will talk
about their powerful experiences in Girl Scouts. That’s where
these successful women learned to stand strong, with courage and
confidence.
- In the Florida Panhandle, Girl Scouting is inclusive and
relevant for all girls, providing leadership experiences,
tangible skills and positive values for members of more than 580
Troops, nearly 80 Independent (Juliette) Girl Scouts, and 127
girls in underserved communities. Scholarships and sponsorships
are available to make Girl Scouting accessible to every girl.
- In Girl Scouting, leadership is the result of girls
discovering their world, connecting with others, and taking
action to make the world a better place.
